During my first summer at university, I decided to make the most of my time off and gain some industry experience, so I got a job at Total Enterprise Solutions. While my title was Trainee Developer, I did a variety of work for:

  • Managed services team - assisting with customer issues

  • Testing team - learning the steps of testing and had a go at some myself

  • Dev team - creating a few modules for the current applications

What I did in my role:

  • Developed a new module with Microsoft D365 Business Central to allow the company to claim VAT on mileage reclaim, saving £6,000.

  • Developed the prototype for Greenhouse Gas and Energy reporting in Microsoft D365 Business Central, later utilised by senior and executive management, now being adopted as a solution and sold to customers.

  • Proficient in Microsoft D365 Business Central, Microsoft D365 Sales & Marketing, Microsoft Power BI, and Visual Studio products.

  • Worked as part of the managed services team, taking customer issues and dealing with them within a fixed timeframe.

  • Tested DevOps software for a collection of bespoke plug-ins, ensuring the software worked effectively before being sent to customers.
